The damage in the new fraud case brought against Mikhail Abyzov, ex-Minister for Open Government Affairs, who is serving his sentence, amounts to 394 million rubles. This was reported by RBC with reference to a law enforcement source.
Abyzov is charged with fraud involving investments of a "Russian venture company". The day before the trial sent him under arrest for a period of two months. At the same time, Abyzov stated that he had to go through the case as a victim, since the investments turned out to be illiquid, and he suffered losses.
Earlier, in 2023, the court found Mikhail Abyzov guilty of creating a criminal community, fraud and commercial bribery. According to the investigation and the court, he and his accomplices stole 4 billion rubles belonging to Sibeco (the Siberian Energy Company) and Regional Electric grids. For this, he was sentenced to 12 years in a high-security penal colony.
