Mandatory labeling of meat and sausage products will be introduced in 2026.

The project provides for the phased introduction of mandatory labeling. From March 1, 2026, participants in the meat products turnover will begin to register. Mandatory labeling of meat products will begin on August 1. Sausage products will be included in the list from October 1.   

We are talking, first of all, about meat offal and meat fat products packaged in consumer packaging.

Based on experience with other products that are already subject to mandatory labeling, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assumes that the volume of illegal product trafficking and its negative impact on the development of the social sphere and the Russian economy will decrease here.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has planned to conduct a voluntary experiment. The participants will test it free of charge and select the most appropriate ways of labeling products.

Recall that they also want to introduce mandatory labeling for some types of grocery products.
