71 billion rubles will be spent on forest conservation until 2030. This was announced by Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting during which the implementation of the federal project "Forest Conservation" and the national project "Environmental well-being" were discussed.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, 70% less funds were allocated for these purposes under the previous national project.

Petrushev also noted that since 2021, there has been a steady positive trend in reforestation: more forests appear than are eliminated. And now the authorities are focusing on improving the quality of this area. This includes, among other things, the reconstruction of existing and the creation of new state forest protection strips around large industrial centers. In particular, the list of territories where reforestation is most in demand is now expanding.

New directions are emerging, for example, a database of genetic and breeding data of forest-forming breeds is being created. In the future, this will increase the resistance of forest plantations, including to diseases and pests. In addition, a reserve stock of seeds is being created for restoration. It is noted that within the framework of the federal project, existing forest nurseries are being restored, as well as new ones are being created.

The main topic of the meeting was the protection of forests from fires. We remembered that this year a forest fire center was established in the Trans-Baikal Territory. It is also planned to purchase more than 1,7thousand units of special equipment for extinguishing forest fires by 2030, the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation reported.
