Russian citizens under the age of 14 will need a passport when traveling to Abkhazia, Belarus, South Ossetia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The requirement will enter into force on January 20, 2026. This is reported by the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

This requirement will apply regardless of whether the child travels to these countries with his parents or with an escort. Children who left on their birth certificate before January 20, 2026, will be allowed to return to the Russian Federation using it.

Russians over the age of 14 will still be able to enter these countries using an internal Russian passport.
