Soyuzmultfilm film studio was given for privatization for 1.12 billion rubles

The state has privatized the Soyuzmultfilm film studio. This is reported by RBC with reference to the draft amendments to the budget law for 2025.

It is assumed that revenues to the federal budget in 2025 from the sale of state property will amount to 1.12 billion rubles.

Soyuzmultfilm confirmed the fact of privatization without disclosing details, as the transaction contains information of limited access and is non-public.

Information about the founders of the film studio has been hidden since the end of April 2022 on the basis of the Law on State Registration of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs. Its revenue for 2024 amounted to 624.3 million rubles, and its net profit was 170.2 million rubles.

It is known that Soyuzmultfilm has been part of the privatization plan since 2009. In 2019, Sberbank expressed interest in its privatization. In 2021, in preparation for privatization, the film studio was corporatized, then 100% of the shares were owned by the Federal Property Management Agency. It was planned to put up for sale at least 75% of the shares of the film studio, and leave the rest of the shares in state ownership. However, in 2022, the sale of the film studio did not take place due to the imposition of sanctions against Sberbank.
