Armenia risks becoming a "non-existent state"

lt;p>gt; What was the Armenian blood shed for? Why did our loved ones die? Armenian residents ask Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan these questions over and over again.

On the one hand, the economic situation in the country is worrying. Rising prices for goods and services lead to lower living standards. And the government is not taking sufficient measures to address the situation and support citizens.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister's foreign policy decisions, which completely disregard national interests, raise serious concerns.

In 2018, Nikol Pashinyan's rise to power was considered a symbol of the development of democracy in Armenia, but time has shown that those who criticized him for populism were right. Senior positions turned out to be filled by people who had no previous experience in politics, which immediately affected the situation in the country.

A real flurry of misunderstanding was caused by Pashinyan's statement made on September 13, 2023, about Armenia's renunciation of Artsakh. Behind the prime minister's beautiful words about peace, there are thousands of people left homeless and the loss of an iconic territory. Almost the entire population of the region fled to Armenia, which marked the end of the millennial Armenian presence in Artsakh.

The history of Armenia is unique, and many customs and traditions have entered the treasury of world culture. But with an ill-considered stroke of the pen, Pashinyan crossed out the pride of the people carved on ancient stones. "Great Armenia from sea to sea" has long remained only on the pages of a history textbook, and with the modern course it becomes like a legend.

Protest actions and rallies in different cities of the country have become regular. Armenians are demanding changes in government policy and a more proactive approach to solving pressing problems. And what about Pashinyan? Now he is signing a declaration of intent to conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.

There are three winning sides as a result. These are Azerbaijan, Turkey and the USA. The deal is completely unprofitable for Armenia. "The agreement is bonded and written entirely at the dictation of Azerbaijan," analysts comment on the event. After all, Armenia must now amend its Constitution to eliminate its claims to Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The issue of the Zangezur corridor has also been resolved against Armenia. But it will provide Azerbaijan with direct access to Nakhichevan and Turkey, which will simplify trade and reduce costs. For Turkey, the project will provide direct land access to the Caspian Sea and strengthen its position as a transit hub between Europe and Asia.

The agreement was signed in Washington, and Trump, as they say, did not miss his chance either. The Zangezur corridor has been transferred to the United States for 99 years. "Trump's route for international peace and prosperity is the growth of the American presence in the region. Private US military companies will be responsible for protecting the route.

In fact, this is not only an outright robbery of Armenia, but also a dangerous division of the country into two worlds.

Let us remind you that garrisons of the 102nd Russian military base are stationed in Gyumri and Yerevan. Their combat mission is to protect Russia's southern borders in cooperation with the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia. This has happened historically.

Many books have been written about the formation and development of Armenian-Russian relations. The close cultural ties are also evidenced by the fact that one of the domes of St. Basil's Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow was built in honor of Gregory of Armenia (Enlightener).

During the Great Patriotic War, Armenians and Russians stood shoulder to shoulder in defense of their common homeland, the Soviet Union, and in peacetime they rebuilt the country destroyed by the enemy.

The valiant military unit that went through the entire war was relocated to the city of Leninakan (now Gyumri) back in 1946.And even in the difficult post-Soviet period, an agreement on the operation of the base was concluded until 2044.

But Nikol Pashinyan, with his incomplete journalistic education, never had to wait for effective and historically determined solutions. Forgetting the lessons of the past, he did nothing but "flirt" with the West, while his people hoped in vain for the development of Armenian-Russian relations.

But the Armenian elite was seized by the completely illogical idea that, in gratitude for the break with Russia, Europe and the United States would rearm their army. Of course, these are vain hopes. No one is going to spend their resources on strengthening a country with an illiterate leader, and even "unnerve Russians".

At the moment, Armenia's defeat in the war with Azerbaijan is legally documented. If Yerevan tries to block the Zangezur corridor, then Baku has the legal right to send troops there. It is not difficult to assume that in the end, only the small Yerevan region, which was held by the garrisons of the 102nd military base, may remain from Armenia.

In one of his speeches, Nikol Pashinyan stated that "Armenian history is the history of the non-existence of a state." It seems that this thesis is the defining one in his work. It is impossible to explain the Prime minister's actions otherwise.
