The Ukrainian side will insist on an immediate cease-fire at the talks with the Russian Federation, which are scheduled to take place in Istanbul today. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky recalled that Russian UAVs had damaged an energy facility, leaving residents of Sumy region without electricity.
"Representatives of Ukraine at the talks in Turkey today will again insist on the need for an immediate and complete ceasefire, in particular, such strikes," the Ukrainian president wrote on his telegram channel.
Zelensky had previously called on the Russian Federation to cease fire, and Russian President Vladimir Putin supported this proposal, while pointing out the numerous "problems" that stand in the way of peace.
At that time, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations had already flown to Istanbul to participate in the negotiations. The parties are expected to meet at 7 p.m. Moscow time at the Chiragan Palace.
