Vladimir Putin extended the powers of the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin for a year

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order extending the term of federal public service of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin. The relevant document has been published on the official legal information portal.

According to the text of the decree, the powers of Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin are extended until August 27, 2026.

According to Russian law, the upper limit for public service is set at 65 years of age. For senior managers, this period may be extended to 70 years by decision of the President. Alexander Bastrykin turned 72 on August 27. It was on this day that its service life expired, extended earlier in August 2024. 

Alexander Bastrykin has been the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia since its creation in 2011.
