In Russia, 11.9 million people live on incomes below the poverty line (16.6 thousand rubles per month). Such data was provided by Rosstat following the results of the first quarter of 2025.

The poverty rate is 8.1% of the total population, compared with 9.6% a year earlier. At that time, 14 million people had incomes below the poverty line. The dynamics is explained by the growth of household incomes and social benefits.

The poverty rate in the Russian Federation is decreasing annually and has almost reached its target value. According to the national goals of the Russian Federation, by 2030 it should decrease to 7%, and to 5% by 2036.
