The State Duma has passed a law introducing an experiment to strengthen the registration and control of migrants. The experiment will take place in Moscow and the Moscow region.
Thus, upon arrival in the Moscow region, mandatory biometric photographing, fingerprinting, location registration, and geolocation monitoring of subscriber devices are introduced for foreign citizens. Migrants will be required to inform law enforcement authorities about the change in their actual location within three working days.
These measures will not affect diplomats and citizens of Belarus.
The adopted law is designed to strengthen control in the migration sphere and help reduce the number of offenses and crimes in this area. If the experiment is successfully completed, the measures taken may be extended to other regions.
