The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has prepared a draft law that equates digital currency to property and can be seized and confiscated by court order. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Vadim Fedorov during the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPIEF).
"At the same time, it is proposed to establish special requirements aimed at ensuring its safety, taking into account the specifics of a particular digital currency, the investigator will be able to seize a tangible medium with access codes to it or ask the court to ban operations," TASS quotes Fedorov.
He noted that this type of asset is the most attractive for criminals due to its anonymity and lack of centralized control.
According to him, the bill is currently being prepared for consideration by the State Duma in the first reading.
