The Board approved an increase in the maternity allowance for female students

The draft law on increasing the maternity allowance for female students has been approved by the government commission on legislative activity. This is reported by TASS with reference to the document.

Currently, maternity benefits for full-time women (students of colleges, universities, organizations of additional professional education, scientific organizations) are paid based on the amount of the scholarship for 140 days of maternity leave. So, if the average scholarship of a student is 2-5 thousand rubles, the amount of the final payment is 9.3-23.3 thousand rubles.

The authors of the bill propose to raise the basic estimated amount to the minimum subsistence level for the able-bodied population established in the region. In the whole country, starting from January 1, it is 19,329 rubles. With the adoption of the law, the average amount of maternity benefits for female students will be 90,202 rubles.

It is assumed that the Social Fund of the Russian Federation will be given the authority to assign and pay benefits from the federal budget. Currently, student benefits are paid through educational organizations.

The draft law has been prepared at the suggestion of the President of the Russian Federation.
