Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, made a statement following the talks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in Istanbul. Medinsky said that, in general, the Russian Federation is satisfied with the results of the negotiations and is ready to continue contacts with the Ukrainian side.

Speaking about what the two sides agreed on following the conversation, Medinsky announced a large-scale exchange of 1,000 prisoners for 1,000 people planned in the near future.

In addition, the Ukrainian side, according to Medinsky, requested direct talks between the heads of state.

"We have taken this request into consideration," said the assistant to the president.

Each side of the negotiations will also present its vision of a possible ceasefire.

"After such a vision is presented and spelled out in detail, we believe it would be advisable to continue our negotiations," concluded Medinsky.
