Frank exchange of views: what Putin and Trump talked about

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held his second telephone conversation with American leader Donald Trump since the beginning of the year. It was a detailed and frank exchange of views on the situation around Ukraine, and the Kremlin appreciated the dialogue.

The main accents of the conversation:

Putin expressed gratitude to Trump for his desire to achieve the goal of ending hostilities and human losses.

"Putin confirmed his principled commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Putin called for working with America to work out ways to resolve the conflict.

The settlement agreement should be comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term in nature, addressing the root causes of the crisis.

A truce for a period of 30 days is possible if effective control is ensured over a possible cease-fire along the entire line of contact, the need to stop forced mobilization in Ukraine andrearmament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The escalation of the conflict can be stopped by the complete cessation of foreign military aid to Kiev.
