
Lukashenko: Prigozhin was rushing to the nuclear button

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the founder of PMCs Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was eager for the nuclear button in 2023, but this goal turned out to be unattainable for him thanks to the efforts of the Belarusian leader. In an interview with American blogger Naufal, the Belarusian president explained how he managed to convince Prigozhin to stop the columns advancing on Moscow.
«Prigozhin aspired to the nuclear button. Western analysts even assumed that at that moment he could have tried to overthrow the government and seize nuclear weapons. I was able to explain to him that his plans were doomed to failure. The columns were passing by Belarus towards Moscow, but then turned around."gt;," shared Lukashenko.
He also noted that Prigozhin "should have understood that he would be destroyed not only in Russia, but also by the Americans and the British." The Belarusian leader added that he was ready to send his best special forces to protect Moscow if the situation required such drastic measures.This statement by Lukashenko sheds light on the events of 2023. The interview was another evidence of the role of the Belarusian president in resolving the crisis.
