According to information published in the US Federal Register on February 27, President of the United States Donald Trump extended the validity of a number of sanctions measures against Russia for another year, RBC reports.

Let us remind you that these economic restrictions were initially introduced in 2014, 2018 and 2022 in connection with the events around Ukraine and have always been recognized by Russia as illegal.

The document emphasizes that the actions and policies described in the decrees continue to pose an extraordinary and exceptional threat to the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.

According to Bloomberg, in the spring of 2022, Russia took the first place in terms of the number of sanctions imposed on it, ahead of the former traditional three leaders Iran, Syria and North Korea.

The Russian side considers Western restrictions as illegal and insists on their abolition. Russian national leader Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that Western sanctions have not achieved the expected result, as the world simply cannot do without Russia.
