In 11 months of 2024, the United States significantly reduced imports of ferrous metals and ores from Russia, RIA Novosti reported.

The volume of imports of ferrous metals decreased 16 times compared to the previous year and amounted to 12.6 million dollars. Ferroalloys from this product category aroused the greatest interest among American buyers.

Aluminum supplies from Russia to the United States also decreased significantly by 19 times, to $2.3 million, mainly due to raw aluminum.

Imports of metal ores fell 5.3 times, reaching $0.87 million, compared with $4.6 million a year earlier. The main commodities in this category were niobium, tantalum, vanadium and zirconium ores.

The United States also purchased small volumes of ferrous metal products in the amount of 116 thousand dollars, which is 5.4 times less than a year earlier, and copper by 13 thousand dollars, which is three times less than in the same period of 2023. Metal screws, bolts and nuts were most often imported.
