Commander of the Leningrad Naval Base Alexei Suglobov and head of the marine engineering service at a Ministry of Defense institution in Lomonosov Alexei Ionov have been detained and placed under arrest, according to «Fонтанка».
According to the report, Captain First Rank Suglobov was arrested on October 21 in Kronstadt during the handover of 1.5 million rubles. He was appointed commander of the Leningrad Naval Base at the end of 2025. The Military Investigative Committee of the Leningrad Military District has initiated a criminal case against him for receiving a bribe in an especially large amount. Ionov faces similar charges.
Investigators allege that since late 2025, both officers systematically received money from business representatives in exchange for protection and providing commercial organizations with access to the military base, bypassing established regulations.
According to the investigation, the businessmen were involved in sand and gravel extraction on the territory of the military town in Lomonosov. The excavated pits were filled with construction waste, allowing the companies to save on disposal costs.
