U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitcomb suggested during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the possibility of resuming trilateral talks between Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine in the format of technical groups be considered. He noted that experts could thoroughly discuss the next steps towards conflict resolution.

"I hope you will consider resuming trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, where we could discuss the next steps towards achieving a settlement," he said, emphasizing that "all of us and the world are ready for this."
