Eight Holding Companies Plan to Relocate Jobs to Russian Regions - Reshetnikov

Eight major Russian holdings have developed plans to relocate some of their jobs from Moscow to other regions, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov announced during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

The list includes Russian Railways (RZD), Aeroflot, Russian Post, Transneft, Rosseti, Rosneft, Inter RAO and Zarubezhneft.

According to Reshetnikov, the companies selected for this initiative have a workforce of at least 2,000 employees, are monitored by Rosstat (the Russian Federal State Statistics Service), are not part of the defense industry, and are under government control.

Collectively, the eight holdings operate around 250 companies in Moscow, with a total workforce of approximately 270,000 employees. Each holding has developed its own plan for restructuring the geographical distribution of jobs.

Reshetnikov cited RZD as an example, noting that the company is creating an innovation cluster in the Vladimir region, where it plans to relocate up to 2,000 employees.

Another example is Transneft, which is considering relocating up to 1,000 employees to other regions, according to the minister.

The Ministry of Economic Development expects that redistributing some jobs will help develop large corporate centers and new hubs of economic activity outside Moscow.
