Sunflower Oil Prices Drop 10% in Russian Domestic Market Amid Export Reduction

As of September 20, 2026, the price of sunflower oil in Russia reached 85,700 rubles per ton, according to data from "SovEcon" cited by "Kommersant". Over the past week, the price dropped by 9.8%.

Over the past two months, the price of sunflower oil has fallen by 16%, and over the past year, it has decreased by 7.9%.

Market participants attribute this trend to reduced exports due to logistical constraints. In August, the total volume of sunflower oil exports amounted to 0.3–0.4 million tons, which is 20–40% lower than the previous year. The main shipments were through the ports of the Azov and Black Seas, but their operations have been suspended due to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). Some export volumes have been partially redirected to terminals in Kaliningrad and St. Pyotrsburg, but their capacity is limited.

However, experts doubt that any processor would voluntarily reduce output under current conditions due to credit obligations.
