### Russian Used Car Sales Decline for Second Consecutive Month in August 2026 In August 2026, a total of 518,200 used passenger cars were sold in Russia, marking an 8.4% year-on-year decline, according to Autostat (a leading Russian automotive market research firm). Compared to the previous month, sales dropped by 5.6%, indicating a second consecutive month of falling demand. Market experts attribute the decline to high prices in the used car segment, difficulties in obtaining loans, and fuel shortages. On the Russian used car market, Lada remains the leader, despite a 17.7% drop to 113,300 units sold. Toyota came in second with a marginal 0.2% decrease to 56,800 units, followed by Kia with an 8.5% decline to 30,500 units. Hyundai and Volkswagen rounded out the top five, with sales of 27,500 units (-13.2%) and 24,900 units (+2.8%), respectively.
