Ruble Sheds 0.2% Against Currency Basket on Monday

The Russian ruble is losing ground against a basket of currencies by about 0.2% on Monday.

On the interbank market, the ruble-yuan (CNY/RUB) exchange rate is trading at 12.56 rubles per yuan.

In the ruble-dollar (USD/RUB) pair, the ruble is at 84.40 rubles per U.S. dollar.

It is worth noting that the Bank of Russia will set official exchange rates for foreign currencies against the ruble based on combined data from both exchange and over-the-counter segments of the foreign exchange market starting December 27, 2024. This change, outlined in Bank of Russia Regulation No. 6956-U, is intended to increase the representativeness of official rates in light of the growing volume of over-the-counter transactions.

Since June 8, 2026, the Bank of Russia has revised its methodology for calculating the official euro-ruble (EUR/RUB) exchange rate. Instead of using direct quotes for the euro-ruble pair, the Bank now calculates the rate using a cross-currency formula: EUR/RUB = USD/RUB × EUR/USD (based on European Central Bank data).
