European gas prices surged above $1,000 per 1,000 cubic meters on September 14, according to data from the London-based ICE Futures Exchange.
During trading, the price of the October futures contract at the TTF hub in the Netherlands rose to $1,004 per 1,000 cubic meters, equivalent to €84.07 per MWh. This is the first time such high prices have been recorded since December 2022.
Last week, spot gas prices at major European trading hubs had already exceeded $1,000 per 1,000 cubic meters.
