In the southern part of St. Pyotrsburg, a large-scale operation to extinguish a fire at a warehouse complex unfolded in the night of August 23. Local residents were the first to notice a fiery glow over the industrial area and promptly reported it to the media and emergency services.
According to updated information, the fire is occurring in an industrial hangar measuring 680 by 120 meters. The total area affected by the fire has reached 60,000 square meters. Due to the high density of buildings and the category of the object, rescuers quickly raised the complexity level to fourth (elevated). Currently, significant resources are involved in extinguishing the fire: 217 specialists and 65 units of heavy equipment, including fire trucks with ladders and foam-raising equipment.
Flames are rising dozens of meters high, and thick black smoke is visible for several kilometers around the site. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the emergency services currently report "0 casualties" — information about possible people inside is being verified.
The owner of the object is a major 3PL services operator that offers clients a full range of storage services, including legal and financial support for cargo. While firefighters are fighting the open fire, it is currently impossible to assess the material damage from the destruction of goods and structures — calculations will begin only after the fire is fully contained.
