Production, circulation and import of automotive fuels of environmental classes K2, K3 and K4, also known as "Euro-2", "Euro-3", "Euro-4", are permitted in Russia until July 1, 2027. The decision was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Information about the environmental class of the fuel will be displayed at gas stations. The adopted measure is called a temporary one aimed at ensuring stable supply of the domestic fuel market and preventing possible shortages amid changes in logistics chains and technological constraints.
"The established exemptions are valid exclusively for a limited period and are an anti-crisis measure that allows balancing the requirements for fuel quality and the need to ensure its availability for consumers," the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.
The document also revokes a previous decision that allowed the circulation of K5 gasoline with higher sulfur content until the end of 2026.
The decree has come into force.
