Ruble Strengthens Marginally Against Currency Basket on Monday
On the interbank market on Monday, the ruble is showing the following dynamics: the ruble-to-Chinese yuan exchange rate (CNY/RUB) is trading at 11.84 rubles per yuan.
The ruble-to-US dollar exchange rate (USD/RUB) stands at 80.33 rubles per US dollar.
It is worth noting that the Bank of Russia (CBR) has been setting official exchange rates for foreign currencies against the ruble since December 27, 2024, based on consolidated data from both exchange and over-the-counter segments of the foreign exchange market. This adjustment, introduced under CBR Regulation No. 6956-U, aims to enhance the representativeness of official rates in light of the growing volume of over-the-counter transactions.
Starting June 8, 2026, the CBR revised its methodology for calculating the official euro-to-ruble exchange rate. Instead of relying on direct euro-ruble trading quotes, the CBR now uses a cross-rate calculation based on data from the European Central Bank (ECB). The new formula is EUR/RUB = USD/RUB × EUR/USD (ECB data).
