Russian Coal Exports Rise 8.1% in First Half of Year

In the first half of 2026, Russia exported 107.13 million tons of coal, an increase of 8.1% or 8.05 million tons compared to the same period last year, according to Deputy Energy Minister Dmitry Islamov, as reported by TASS.

Islamov noted that the majority of coal shipments were carried by rail, with rail deliveries increasing by 6.1% to reach 93.9 million tons. Shipments via the Trans-Pacific Railway (Pacific Railway) rose by 146.7% to 7.4 million tons, while deliveries from Sakhalin Island decreased by 23.1% to 5.83 million tons.
