Russian Businesses Face Challenges with State Control of Movement, See No Benefit

In the first five months of 2026, Russia exported 42,000 tons of cat and dog food, generating $101 million in revenue, according to the federal center for export support of agricultural products.
Compared to the same period last year, exports in volume increased by 33%, while in value they more than doubled.
The main importing countries for Russian pet food during this period were Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan. There was a significant increase in exports to Serbia, from 15 tons in all of 2025 to 120 tons in the first five months of 2026. In total, Russian cat and dog food is purchased by more than 15 countries.
