Russia May Introduce Scrap Fee for Railway Equipment

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg) is considering the introduction of a scrapping fee for railway equipment, as urged by industry representatives, Minister Anton Alikhanov announced at the "Innoprom" industrial trade fair.

"Minpromtorg is constantly looking for sources of budget replenishment and resources to support industry. We already have a scrapping fee for wheeled and self-propelled vehicles. Now we also have a number of requests from governors and industry representatives to introduce a similar mechanism for railway machinery," Alikhanov was quoted as saying by TASS.
