The Russian government has authorized certain domestic refineries to produce and sell gasoline and diesel fuel meeting the "Euro-3" standard on the local market, according to a government decree No. 819 signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Such fuel can be released into circulation until December 31, 2026.
Only officially registered refineries and oil depots will be allowed to produce and supply this fuel. It will not be marked with the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) label and is not intended for circulation in other member states of the union.
"Euro-3" gasoline differs from newer standards by its higher sulfur content. This type of fuel is primarily suitable for domestic cars with carburetor or early injection engines manufactured before 2005, as well as older foreign cars produced before 2000 without catalytic converters and lambda sensors (oxygen sensors).
