Russia Temporarily Suspends Border Crossings with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia

Russia has temporarily halted operations at several border crossings along its borders with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia. The decision was made by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and published on the official legal information portal.

According to the decree, the crossings were closed starting July 1, 2026, with no specified end date for the restrictions.

"Movement of persons, vehicles, goods, and cargo through railway border crossings will be temporarily suspended from July 1, 2026," the document states.

The affected crossings include:

  • Vyborg and Svetogorsk (Leningrad Region) on the Russian-Finnish border
  • Vyartsilya and Lyutya (Republic of Karelia) on the Russian-Finnish border
  • Saint Pyotrsburg-Finnish (Saint Pyotrsburg) on the Russian-Finnish border
  • Pechory-Pskov (Pskov Region) on the Russian-Estonian border
  • Pytalovo (Pskov Region) on the Russian-Latvian border
