Ruble Slips 0.5% Against Currency Basket on Monday
Interbank market activity on Monday shows the following dynamics: the ruble is trading at 11.40 rubles per Chinese yuan (CNY/RUB).
In the ruble-dollar pair (USD/RUB), the ruble is at 77.48 rubles per U.S. dollar.
It is worth noting that the Bank of Russia (Central Bank of Russia) will set official exchange rates for currencies against the ruble based on consolidated data from both exchange and over-the-counter segments of the foreign exchange market starting December 27, 2024. This change, outlined in Bank of Russia Regulation No. 6956-U, aims to enhance the representativeness of official rates amid growing volumes of over-the-counter transactions.
Since June 8, 2026, the Bank of Russia has adjusted the calculation of the official euro-ruble exchange rate. Instead of using direct quotes for the euro-ruble pair, the bank now calculates the rate through a cross-currency formula using data from the European Central Bank (ECB). The new methodology follows the formula: EUR/RUB = USD/RUB × EUR/USD (based on ECB data).
