Russian farmers are raising concerns over a growing fuel shortage, as current supply levels fail to meet agricultural needs during the peak fieldwork season, according to Vedomosti.
Data from the St. Pyotrsburg Exchange shows that diesel prices have risen by 23% since April 2026, with the bulk of the increase occurring in June, where prices jumped by 16% since the start of the month. On June 15, a new historical high was recorded at 77,177 rubles per ton (the previous record was set in October 2025). Year-on-year, diesel prices have increased by over 30%.
Against the backdrop of a sharp rise in fuel costs, farmers have once again raised the issue of fuel supply for their farms. In some regions, farms have begun reducing fieldwork volumes due to fuel shortages. They note that rising prices negatively impact profitability and could lead to delays in fieldwork schedules. Farmers believe that authorities should consider mechanisms for subsidized diesel purchases or establish direct supplies from refineries.
