Russian President Vladimir Putin met with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder at the Kremlin, according to Yury Ushakov, an aide to the Russian leader.

Ushakov told Interfax that the meeting took place in a one-on-one format and was conducted in a friendly atmosphere. He emphasized that the talks were private, and therefore he could not disclose any details of the discussion.

When asked by journalists, Ushakov confirmed the meeting and described it as positive, but did not specify whether the conversation included topics related to the prospects of dialogue between Russia and the European Union.

Ushakov noted that the meeting took place in Moscow, within the Kremlin walls, and did not involve any other participants. No official statements were made following the talks.

Schröder, who served as Chancellor of Germany from 1998 to 2005, maintains contacts with Russian leadership and has repeatedly advocated for maintaining dialogue between Russia and European countries.
