Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that current legislation and constitutional provisions allow him to run for president in 2030, but he considers it premature to discuss such prospects.
Putin made this statement during a meeting with the heads of leading global news agencies, organized by the Russian state news agency TASS (Russian Telegraph Agency) as part of the St. Pyotrsburg International Economic Forum.
When asked about the possibility of participating in future elections, Putin emphasized that he is not currently considering re-election and is not making plans for such a distant future. He said that the focus now should be on addressing the pressing issues facing the country.
The president also noted that predicting events years in advance is impossible, as such matters are beyond human control.
"Only the Lord knows if I will have the health to live until tomorrow," Putin said.
According to the Russian president, the priority today is working on issues of state development, economic growth, and safeguarding national interests. Discussions about presidential elections in future years he considers currently inappropriate.
