### Russia to Expand Diplomatic Presence in Africa with New Embassies Russia is set to expand its diplomatic network in Africa, according to a report by TASS. New Russian embassies will soon open in Comoros, Gambia, Liberia, and Togo. This was announced by Anatoly Bashkin, Director of the Department of African States (South of the Sahara) at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He stated that the practical implementation of the projects to open these diplomatic missions is now in its final stages. The most advanced preparations are for the embassy in Gambia, where all necessary decisions have been made and the head of the diplomatic mission has been appointed. Work on opening the embassy in Comoros is also nearing completion, with organizational issues such as selecting premises and forming staff currently being addressed. Similar efforts are underway in Togo. As Bashkin noted, the Russian ambassador is expected to arrive in the country within the next few months, and a preparatory team has already begun work on the ground. Additionally, plans for opening an embassy in Liberia are also being finalized. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that all these diplomatic missions will begin full-fledged operations in the foreseeable future, which will help strengthen political and economic ties between Russia and African countries.
