Major disruptions in air travel continue across southern Russia, with more than 80 flights already delayed or canceled, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

As of 10:00 a.m. on May 8, at least 14,000 passengers are awaiting departure, with the majority of disruptions affecting domestic routes.

The most severe situation is in Sochi, where new restrictions have coincided with ongoing schedule disruptions that have been ongoing for two days.

International flights have also been affected, with at least 13 overseas flights either canceled or delayed in Sochi, Mineralnye Vody, Krasnodar, Makhachkala, and Vladikavkaz. ATOR estimates that these changes will impact around 3,000 tourists and cause a ripple effect of delays for return flights from foreign airports to Russia.

In response, Russian airlines have begun urgently revising their flight schedules.

Aeroflot has announced changes to departure times and the cancellation of some flights, with several aircraft being diverted to alternate airports.

Ural Airlines reported delays on flights to Sochi, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, Vladikavkaz, Grozny, and Mineralnye Vody.

Rossiya Airlines and low-cost carrier Pobeda have also adjusted their schedules, with some flights being canceled or rescheduled.

Nordwind Airlines advised passengers of unavoidable changes to their flight program and recommended checking the current status of their flights in advance.
