Over 670 people fall ill in Murom due to gastrointestinal infection outbreak

In the Vladimir region, the number of people affected by an outbreak of acute gastrointestinal infection in Murom has reached 677, according to "Vladimir News". Among the infected are 318 children. The updated figures were announced by Nelli Zinovyeva, acting Minister of Health of the region, during a government meeting.
According to authorities, cases of illness were recorded between April 7 and 13. Most of the victims received medical care on an outpatient basis - 573 people, including 272 minors, were treated without hospitalization.
Laboratory tests conducted by the local Ministry of Health confirmed the presence of norovirus infection in 36 cases. The remaining patients were diagnosed with acute gastrointestinal infections of various origins.
All patients under medical supervision are experiencing the disease in a moderate condition. As of now, 46 patients have completed treatment and have been discharged from medical facilities.
Regional authorities continue to monitor the epidemiological situation and the work of medical institutions involved in providing assistance to the sick.
