All residents of the Kursk region who were in Ukraine during the fighting along the border have now returned to Russia. The last seven individuals arrived on April 11.

The effort to secure their release took nearly two years. During this period, according to the Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova, 165 residents detained by Kyiv since 2024 were returned.

Ensuring the return of these individuals required sustained efforts and coordination among various government bodies. Negotiations, organizational and humanitarian measures were ongoing throughout the process.

In a meeting with the freed residents, Moskalkova highlighted the role of state agencies, including security services, as well as the involvement of international partners. Special mention was made of Belarus, which provided assistance on humanitarian issues.
