The Kursk Regional Court has reviewed the appeal filed by former Kursk Regional Duma deputy Maxim Vasilyev and other defendants, according to "Kursk News".

The court found no grounds to overturn or modify the decision of the Leninsky District Court, which, following a lawsuit filed by the Deputy General Prosecutor of Russia, ordered the defendants to jointly pay 4,101,653,592.34 rubles to the state and 900,000 rubles in state fees to the Kursk city budget. The ruling regarding the payment is subject to immediate enforcement.

Vasilyev did not attend the hearing; his interests were represented by a lawyer. His wife, who previously served as a member of the Kursk City Council (a local legislative body), also attended the court session but was not allowed to represent him due to lack of higher legal education. The appellate ruling can be further appealed through cassation proceedings.
