The situation surrounding Iran continues to keep the world on edge into the early hours of April 8. French President Emmanuel Macron, according to information from BFMTV citing the Élysée Palace, has called for an emergency meeting of the defense council—triggered by threats from Washington aimed at Tehran. The meeting is expected to begin several hours after the ultimatum issued by U.S. President Donald Trump to Iran expires at 3 a.m. Moscow time. Trump threatened Iran with the "obliteration of civilization," though he did not clarify what this meant.
In an interview with Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. is engaged in highly tense negotiations regarding the Iranian issue and is awaiting a comprehensive briefing on the matter. Meanwhile, journalist Tucker Carlson addressed U.S. military personnel and White House staff, urging them to sabotage any orders from Trump to strike Iran, including scenarios involving the use of nuclear weapons.
First Vice President of the Islamic Republic Mohammad Reza Aref, on the other hand, said that his country is prepared for any scenario in the ongoing confrontation with the U.S. and Israel. According to Aref, the government has thoroughly planned all necessary measures for every possible scenario and is fully prepared for all types of threats. The Israeli army, meanwhile, anticipates a possible intensification of Iranian strikes on Israeli territory in the coming hours, linked to the expiration of the U.S. ultimatum.
