Russian law enforcement authorities have charged former editor-in-chief of Readovka news outlet Alexei Kostylev with fraud on an especially large scale, RBC reports citing sources in security services.

According to the investigation, Kostylev is suspected of embezzling around 1 billion rubles allocated from the state budget under a government contract for the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Kostylev denies the charges, and the investigation is also looking into the involvement of his former colleagues in the alleged criminal activity.
