Law enforcement agencies have detained former governor of Tambov region Maxim Egorov on suspicion of bribery, according to the Public Relations Center of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
According to the investigation, Egorov systematically received bribes from businessmen in Tambov region in exchange for general patronage of their commercial activities. Additionally, the former governor took bribes from regional officials for career advancement in public service. The total amount of funds received amounted to no less than 84 million rubles.
By court decision, property belonging to Egorov and his relatives, valued at 130 million rubles, has been seized.
