Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that any attempts to attack Russia will receive a tough and crushing response. According to him, concerns about alleged possible aggression from Moscow are groundless, but retaliatory measures in case of an attack will be extremely decisive.
Speaking in an interview with TASS summarizing the year 2025, the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that he considers it necessary to convey this position again to European politicians. Lavrov noted that in Europe, statements and signals indicating preparations for military confrontation with Russia are becoming more frequent.
"For European politicians who, I hope, will be shown this interview, I will repeat once again: there is no need to fear that Russia will attack anyone," the minister said.
Lavrov recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin had repeatedly made similar statements publicly. In particular, the head of state warned of an "overwhelming response" in case of strikes on Russian territory using long-range Western weapons.
Earlier, Putin also emphasized that the existing capabilities of strategic deterrence make any scenario of attacking Russia absolutely unacceptable for a potential aggressor. According to him, the system of retaliatory counterstrike guarantees inflicting massive and multi-vector damage, leaving no chance of survival for the opponent.
