Egg production profitability has dropped sevenfold over the year due to overproduction.

In the period from January to September 2025, the profitability of egg production in Russia amounted to 5.5%. Compared to the same period last year, the indicator decreased sevenfold, from 38.81%. These data were reported by "Kommersant" referring to the research company NTech and Rosstat.

The decrease in profitability is explained by overproduction of chicken eggs in the country. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has produced 33.5 billion eggs, which is 6.6% higher than last year. Their cost has decreased to 5,300 rubles per 1,000 pieces.
Against this background, egg sales in monetary terms decreased by 13% year-on-year, while in physical terms they increased by 10%.

Experts predict that if the growth in egg production continues and demand decreases, profitability in the industry may drop to 2–5%.
