Volume of Illegal Product Sales in Russia Drops from 30% to 9%

In Russia, the share of illegal product circulation has decreased from 30% to 9%, which was facilitated by the introduction of digital product labeling, reports Rospotrebnadzor. Moreover, in certain product categories, the agency noted an even more significant effect. For instance, the volume of the illegal perfume market has decreased fivefold. As reported by the agency, since 2024, more than 250,000 preventive measures have been carried out, 21,300 individuals have been held administratively liable, and over 3,800 materials related to the circulation of illegal products have been submitted to court. As a result, the share of sales violating the permitting regime has decreased 2.6 times, the share of sales violating registration rules in the labeling system has decreased 3.7 times, and the share of sales of goods not registered in the labeling system has decreased 2.4 times.
