The first wine-making competition of BRICS countries - BRICS Wine Competition - will take place at the beginning of 2026. The initiative for the event comes from Russia. This was announced by Pavel Mayorov, a representative of the Russian Association of Viticulture and Winemaking, during the Russian Winemaking Forum.
- We are working on creating the BRICS Wine Competition. This will be the first traveling winemaking competition, where wines from BRICS countries will primarily participate, but not exclusively. All countries have already expressed their readiness and willingness to participate, - his words were quoted by TASS.
The first competition will be held in Moscow, and subsequently, it will take place in other member countries, linked to the BRICS summit.
According to Mayorov, Russia is ready to guarantee product certification and distribution in the country for the winners of the competition. The same will be done in other countries where the competition will be held.
- This is a huge potential not only for promoting our wines for export, but also for developing our industry within the country, because it involves scientific exchange, exchange of practical knowledge, including among winemakers, and also the development of tourism, - Mayorov noted the economic potential of this event.
