Over the past three years, shoe prices in Russia have increased by 59%, while clothing prices have risen by 36%. However, in the last year, the rate of growth has slowed down: clothing and shoes have increased by only 6–9%, which is now in line with inflation. These data for January–September 2025 are provided by the "MoySklad" service and reported by "Kommersant".
According to Rosstat, clothing and linen prices increased by 2.7% year-on-year over the nine months, knitted goods by 2.9%, and shoes by 2.4%.
In the previous two years, there were sharp increases in clothing and shoe prices. In 2023, clothing prices rose by 8%, and shoe prices by 29%. However, in 2024, the figures were 15% and 17%, respectively.
Experts attribute the restrained growth to a general cooling of consumer demand, reduced purchasing power, changes in exchange rates, future increases in tax burdens, and customs payments.
