Zakharova: Mikhail Kartavykh, the head of the editorial board of Sputnik Azerbaijan, was released from custody

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, confirmed the release from custody and the return to his homeland of the head of the editorial board of Sputnik Azerbaijan, Mikhail Kartavykh.

"Kartavykh was released from custody and flew to Russia," Zakharova said, commenting on the situation around the Russian journalist.

This decision means a positive development in the case of Kartavykh, who was previously detained in Baku. Earlier, Dmitry Kiselyov, CEO of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, said that the court had changed the measure of restraint for the editor-in-chief of Sputnik Azerbaijan to house arrest. Now the measure of restraint has been lifted completely, which allowed Kartavykh to leave Baku.
